STAGE FLASH SS6

Date: Friday, March 9th

Day: 2 Flash N°: 6

Special stage: Duarte-Derramadero 2 Distance: 26.05 km

Weather: Hot, windy and sunny, 29-30°C

Road conditions: Dry

26 of the original 29 starters completed the first loop but Evans (Car 2) did not start SS6.

Solans (Car 36), Rovanperä (Car 33) and Hernandez (Car 87) retired on the first loop.

Car 1.   OGIER/INGRASSIA

“There was more grip, for sure. We get traction with our tyres but it will be difficult with the soft

compound.” He clipped a wall near the stage finish.

Car 3.   SUNINEN/MARKKULA

Stopped in the stage after 8.6km and then restarted with the loss of around 2min 30sec. Rear-left

damage. “I went wide and hit the left rear. We thought it was a puncture but it’s suspension parts.”

Car 4.   MIKKELSEN/JAEGER-SYNNEVAAG

“It was a clean stage. I misunderstood one pace note.”

Car 5.   NEUVILLE/GILSOUL

Hyundai technicians responded to the 25-second delay that Neuville experienced in SS5 and the team

issued the following statement: “We identified an unforeseen over-consumption of fuel in the car which

caused a loss of fuel pressure.”

SS6: “I am really upset because we lose the time. There was the possibility to catch a few positions this

afternoon but this will put us in trouble for the road position tomorrow.”

Car 6.   SORDO/DEL BARRIO

“I just tried to be not so aggressive. I have soft tyres on the rear and they were moving round a little bit.”

Car 7.   LATVALA/ANTTILA

“The guys have been working hard in the office trying to find the problem. Everything is okay but the

next stage is the most demanding.”

Car 8.   TÄNÄK/JARVEOJA

“When the car is at full power it is working well…..”

Car 9.   LAPPI/FERM

“Everything is the same as in the morning, no change!”

Car 10.   MEEKE/NAGLE

“There’s more grip the second time around and we have the right tyres. I’m happy with my rhythm.”

Car 11.   LOEB/ELENA

Overshoot in the stage and lost some time. “I did not see it until it was too late, I was looking at the

junction after. It was not possible to go straight…”
